A banda que surge após desentendimentos entre o baterista do Parliamente-Funkadelic Jerome Brailey e George Clinder, líder e mentor do P-Funk, sobre o modo de gerir a "Nave-Mãe".
Se Fuzzy Haskins inaugura o P-Funk sem o envolvimento de Clinton, é com o Mutiny que surge de vez um P-Funk anti-Clinton. Ironicamente as músicas feitas em "homenagem" à Clinton eram tão boas que o próprio declarou várias vezes que gostava bastante delas.
